Experimental Study on the Mechanism of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Kang Kil-Won

Abstract
This experimental study was undertaken to find out the relationship between the survival time of albino rats and anaerobic metabolic inhibitor in the anaerobic status with 1% or 5% CO exposure.
The experimental albino rats after 1~2 weeks standardization of breeding-4 groups of 4~6 gm, 15~20gm, 30~50gm and 150~200gm by weight were divided into 4 goups according to the intraperioneal injection of anaerobic metabolic inhibitor, 0.05mg per gm body weight of sodiumiodoacetate, and CO concerntration.
The study on survival time between the control group under the treatment of CO exposure only and the experimental group under the treatment of CO exposure and intraperitoneal injection of anaerobic metabolic inhibitor led to the following results:
1)The difference of survival time between the control group under the treatment of 1% CO exposure only and the experimental group under the treatment of 1% CO exposure and intraperitoneal injection of anaerobic metabolic inhibitor was highly significant.
The survival time of the experimental group by weight was 84.2¢¥ in 4~6gm by weight, 50.5¢¥ in 15~20 gm, 21.9¢¥ in 30~50 gm and 28.6¢¥ in 150~200 gm.
It was very shortened in comparison with the control group in same weight. 546.8¢¥ in 4~6 gm by weight, 140.0¢¥ in 15~20 gm, 46.8¢¥ in 30~5 gm and 50.5¢¥ in 150~200 gm
2) A remarkable difference by weight was revealed on the survival time between the control group under the treatment of 5% CO exposure only and the experimental group under the treatment of 5% CO exposure and intraperitoneal injection of anaerobic metabolic inhibitor.
The survival time of the experimental group by weight was 6.4¢¥ in 4~6 gm by weight, 5.2¢¥ in 15~20 gm, 4.1¢¥ in 30~50 gm and 3.1¢¥ in 150-200 gm.
In comparison with control group in same weight it was remarkably shortened to 105.0¢¥ in 4~6 gm by weight, 11.1¢¥ in 15~20 gm, 6.1¢¥ in 30~50 gm and 3.6¢¥ in 150~200 gm
3) In the control group as the experimental group, the survival time had shortened significantly with high concentration of carbon-monoxide compared with low concentration in all groups by body weight.
4) The survival time by weight, the more the weight is lighter, the more the difference between the control group and the experimental group was larger.
5) The immature albino rats revealed more resistance toward CO exposure compared with mature albino rats; in the anaerobic status with CO exposure, the more the albino rats were immatured, the activites of anaerobic metabolism was higher.
